Privacy, saving and deletion
Crochive works locally without an account. Cloud backup is an optional, separate action.
Updated 15 October 2026.
Work saved in this browser
Charts, project notes, imported source text, Doctor drafts and test notes use your browser’s local storage when available. Clearing site data, changing browser profiles or using another device may remove or separate that work. Download an editable backup before clearing data.
Doctor checks and photo-to-chart conversion run on your device. Selecting a photo for a local chart does not upload it. The test-notes worksheet records photo references, not image attachments.
Optional cloud snapshots
Signing in sends your email to our authentication provider, Supabase, to deliver and verify a sign-in code. Selecting Back up current chart sends that chart’s editable data, including its notes and any imported source text, to private cloud storage associated with your account. It does not automatically sync later edits or upload your separate Doctor draft.
Use Show backups → Delete to remove a stored snapshot. Signing out leaves snapshots in place. No automatic expiry is currently promised. Provider operational logs and infrastructure backups may have separate retention; deleting a snapshot is not a promise of immediate erasure from every infrastructure backup.
For an account-deletion request or a data question, contact feedback@crochive.com from your account email. Do not send passwords or sign-in codes. Account deletion is a request handled by the operator; there is no automatic account-deletion button.
Photo submission for private review is currently disabled. A local chart or a successful software check is not proof that a physical piece has been reviewed.
Usage measurement
The main app and calculators use Google Analytics to count page visits and selected actions. Their event payloads exclude pattern text, uploaded image contents, filenames, project names, private notes, URL queries and fragments. The configuration disables advertising signals and requests no client-side analytics storage. Network requests can still expose normal connection information to service providers.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control suppress the analytics loader and queued events. The test-notes worksheet has no analytics. Local usage does not reliably identify one person across devices.
For your own testing, open Crochive in test mode. This stores a local test-mode flag that suppresses app and calculator analytics in this browser. Leave test mode to allow the normal measurement settings again. This cannot remove visits already measured.
Exports and sharing
Downloading creates a file for you. Review that file before sharing it, especially notes and imported source text. Editable backups can contain material that is absent from the generated chart or PDF. Use your own material or material you have permission to share.
The hosting, font and analytics providers receive ordinary web requests required by the pages you visit. A failed network request does not change a local stitch-count result.
